Who we are

I’m Robert

As a young traveling concert sound engineer, my friends called me Bert.

I was born in New Mexico, and my love affair with the vibrant flavors of the Hatch Valley chilies and all things spicy began early in life. My mother Diane and grandmother Rosie, were masters of the kitchen. Rosie’s passion for heat, fermented pickles, homemade wine, and the canning her garden treasures for the long winters, left an indelible mark on my soul.

BertFromEarth is a labor of love inspired by family. It’s a culinary journey that pays homage to the places that shaped our rich family recipes & traditions…from New Mexico to Kansas City to Portland, Oregon.

For years I have shared my concoctions with friends and family: lacto-fermented sauces, cured & smoked meats, and everything pickled. For as long as I can remember, my friends and family have encouraged me to bring these creations to market. So we’re finally doing it!

Our initial offerings are just the beginning. We have an exciting line-up of products coming including preserves, rubs, and much more!
